Cautata Bakery Refresher Training

Tuesday, 1 October 2019 – To ensure continued support of project proponents of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism (Ministry), the Integrated Human Resource Development Programme (IHRDP) officials conducted a Refresher Bread Baking Training for Cautata village, Tailevu.

The training is a skill-building exercise specifically targeted at micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) with a focus on improving businesses as a strategy for creating more and better employment for men and women. Trainings of this nature empowers the community to sustainably take ownership of income generating activities and improve the quality of bread and other bakery products.

By targeting prospective and existing entrepreneurs in the community with the basic objectives of skill upgradation and to equip them with improved skills of production, this training will ensure that the community will benefit economically as a whole from supporting business as a result of improving business and creation of jobs in the village.

“What I have learnt from this one-day refresher training will give me the confidence in producing quality bread and other products for the community and I am very thankful’, conveyed Mr. Joji Salabogi of Cautata village.

Apart from baking and producing quality long loaves and slice bread, two new bread product skills were imparted in this training. That is, Egg Buns and Hot Dogs to generate additional income for the Cautata Bakery.
The training was coordinated by IHRDP and funded by FMF Foods Ltd, while the venue was provided by the community.
