“Towards the Two Billion Trading Relationships”.

“Today, we recognise the growing strength of this New Zealand-Fiji relationship. Our partnership is stronger than ever before, as the Fijian Government is committed to re-engaging and re-defining our bilateral relationship”.
These were the words of the Minister for Industry, Trade, Tourism, Local Government, Housing and Community Development, Hon. Premila Devi Kumar, whilst officiating at the New Zealand-Fiji (NZFBC) and Fiji-New Zealand (FNZBC) Business Council Annual Joint Conference in Eden Park, Auckland on 29 August 2019.
New Zealand’s bilateral engagement with Fiji continues to be enhanced in terms of two-way trade, tourism and investment. With the Annual Conference theme, “Towards the Two Billion Trading Relationships”, Hon. Kumar acknowledged that it was initiatives such as this that Fiji needs to build on to continue to underpin the strength of our partnership into the future.
In addressing the New Zealand business community, Hon. Kumar highlighted the key reforms currently being undertaken by the Fijian Government in its efforts to improve the quality and efficiency of service delivery. This includes the centralised bizFIJI portal, that provides businesses information on starting a business and obtaining construction permits. Highlighted also was the mordernisation of Fiji’s investment legislation, that is benchmarked on international best practices.
The Joint Conference covered interactive sessions focusing on the Business Environment, Risk Management, Global Market Shift and Sustainability.
