ROLE DESCRIPTION:   Active Directory Administrator

CORPORATE INFORMATION

  2. Salary Range: Band H $34,760.31 – $37,434.18 (Step 1 – 2)
  3. Duty Station: Suva
  4. Reporting Responsibilities.
  1. a) Reports To: Systems Team Lead
  2. b) Liaises with: System Administrators, System Engineers

POSITION PURPOSE

The purpose of this role is to manage and administer the Active Directory service on the GOVNET network in order to allow authorized access its IT resources. This includes setup, configuration, implementation and administration of servers at the Fijian Government Datacenter to host and support Government System Infrastructure and Application services. This is achieved by regularly monitoring of Active Directory system health and providing recommendation of required upgrades and/or updates. Assist in providing support to the Team and actively participate in sharing knowledge and skills upgrade.

KEY DUTIES

The position will achieve its purpose through the following key duties while working with relevant staff and service providers, in accordance with legislative requirements:

 

  1. Provide Level 1 and 2 Support for Active Directory (AD), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DCHP), Certificates, Domain Name System (DNS), and Group Policy for GOVNET (7000+ users and machines).
  2. Ensure the proper installation, configuration and maintenance of servers, and hosted services are highly accessible to authorized users;
  3. Ensure that ALL required system upgrades and updates are tested and installed regularly;
  4. Regular monitoring of servers and services systems and ALL shift-checks, incidences and change management requests (CMR) reports are produced;
  5. Provide Level 1 support for AD, DHCP and DNS requests; backing up of servers and troubleshooting other LAN and WAN issues;
  6. Provide support in evaluating, analyzing and recommending server and  IT solution;
  7. Ensure that all system related documents are produced, updated and accessible to the Team.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

Performance will be measured through the following indicators:

  1. GOVNET Users are able to log in and access IT resources and conduct business securely and efficiently; whether it be hosted on premises or on the cloud;
  2. Periodic clean-up of Active Directory users, computers to meet true-up for Microsoft licensing;
  3. Effective infrastructure support, maintenance, administration and resolutions of any AD related issue.
  4. All required documentations, recommendations and reports are produced, updated and accessible.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

In addition to Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology/Computer Science, Net-Centric, or an IT related field from a recognized institution with relevant work experience, the following Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Abilities required to successfully undertake this role are:

Knowledge and Experience

  1. At least 3 years work experience in managing and administering Active Directory and/or Microsoft Azure AD platform for a small or medium size organization;
  2. Any industrial certification in IT Information Library (ITIL) and Microsoft;
  3. Knowledge and Experience in working in an Microsoft Active Directory environment,
  4. Experience working with System Center Configuration Manager 2012  and System Center Operations Manager 2012  for deploying software (or any related deployment solution);
  5. Knowledge of scripting language such as PowerShell scripts;
  6. Extensive experience with  Windows Server operating systems and hardware ;

Skills and Abilities

  1. Working technical knowledge of basic routing and switching protocols, scripting and programming  languages, and Microsoft technologies;
  2. Demonstrate ability to conduct research into system issues and products when required;
  3. Good project management skills;
  4. Demonstrate Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high pressure environment.
  5. Strong service orientation with a commitment to supporting the operational and corporate environment of the organization;
  6. Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
  7. Effective technical evaluation and must have strong written communication

Personal Character

Applicants for employment must be of good character, with a background that demonstrates their commitment to the Civil Service Values contained in the Fijian Constitution. Applicants must also be Fijian Citizens, under age 60 years, in sound health and with a clear police record. The selected applicant will be required to provide a medical certificate and police clearance prior to taking up duty.
